Interest Rate Swap

In an interest rate swap one business will exchange interest payments that are occurring at a regular rate to another group for a type of cash flow. An example is that one group can exchange an instrument with a variable rate to another group who will give an instrument with a fixed rate to the first group in the transaction. This can work with many currencies and can work for speculative purposes in the event that interest rates may change.
