Activist Shareholder

This type of shareholder is a person who often owns slightly less than ten percent of the shares of a business. An activist shareholder will purchase a large amount of shares to help with influencing the management of the company. A good example of an activist shareholder is Daniel Loeb, a hedge fund manager that owns large amounts of shares in many businesses.
