Bearn Stearns was an investment bank and a securities trading brokerage firm founded in 1923. Its main business activities were capital markets, wealth management and global clearing services. In 2008 Bearn Stearns was acquired by JPMorgan Chase when the company could not be saved by emergency loans granted by the Federal government. As of January of 2010 JPMorgan Chase stopped using the Bear Stearns name.
